Stretch marks, are a type of scar that occurs when rapid tearing of the dermis stretches collagen fibres. This condition can affect all skin types, and colours. Stretch marks may appear as red or purple lines that fade to a white/silver colour. As stretch marks are a condition of the dermis - Dermapen performed on stretch marks can have a dramatic result, as the process encourages the production and distribution of new collagen that will progressively remodel the stretch mark scar whilst greatly reducing its appearance.
The skin will be red in appearance, in a similar way to sunburn and will also be tight. This will settle down within 24 hours. Side effects experienced with the Dermapen will usually subside within 24-48 hours. They include redness, stinging, itching, and tightness of the skin. After 3-5 days there is barely any evidence that the procedure has taken place, just brighter, lighter and tighter skin.
