Most people will associate Citronella with its insecticide properties. Many commercial repellents contain Citronella, and it is often used in combination with Cedarwood to produce a pleasant smelling natural insect repellent. This oil can also help with minor infection, but is more commonly known for its ability to assist in combating colds and flu. Citronella can also be used for excessive perspiration and for conditioning oily skin and hair.

Our Citronella blend combines well with most oils, but specifically well with Bergamot, Bitter Orange, Cedarwood, Geranium, Lemon, Orange, Lavender and Pine.

Botanical Name: Cymbopogon winterianus
Plant Part: Gum
Extraction Method: Steam

Citronella is credited with having therapeutic properties as an antiseptic, deodorant, insecticide, parasitic, tonic and as a stimulant.

Citronella has a well rounded lemon citrus scent, though it is much softer than actual Lemon. It also has subtle wood tones.

Citronella essential oil was one of the worlds dominant insect repellents before the introduction of DDT. Recent history has indicated that Citronella is once again becoming the product of choice for health conscious customers.

Citronella may irritate sensitive skin.

Warning: For external use only. Do not use undiluted on skin. Do not use on broken or irritated skin. If skin sensitivity occurs, discontinue use. Keep out of the reach of children. Flammable.

As consumers you will appreciate that within the EU and many other countries it is required by law for all products to be safety tested and have toxicology reports. We hold all of these reports on our products. Our products are legal for resale to the public. By purchasing Kaneya products from us or any of our stockists you will have the inner peace of knowing this has already been done for you.

Scent formulas are often protected as trade secrets. That means you’ll often see the generic term "fragrance" or "perfume" on a label without information about the actual chemicals used and the amounts. Of course, this makes it difficult for consumers to avoid products containing ingredients that may cause allergic reactions.
