History

Peony has microcirculation-boosting properties. It was recorded as an essential extract in the Materia Medica during the Han Dynasty (2nd century B.C.E.). It is listed in over 30 formulas in the Shang Han Lun, a classic text of early Chinese medicine.

Provenance

Paeonia albiflora, native to northern China, blossoms in late spring and is prized for its medicinal properties.
